About me

Claire Bender Pop vocalist

Hello :)

My name is Claire Bender, and I am the founder of Pop Star Performers.

When it started out back in 2017 as ‘Claire’s Pop Performance Club’ I felt like there was a gap in the market for children who love Pop music. The idea developed from there and since then has grown from strength to strength and become a real confidence boosting class for all involved. Watching shy children flourish into little pop divas who are proud to sing their solo lines in the show fills me with pride and I couldn’t be happier to have chosen this as my job :)

Music , Singing, dancing and performance have always been a huge part of my life and I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to perform in order to feel the sense of achievement that comes from finishing a show. It is particularly great for shy children to overcome their fears and enjoy showing their parents what they have been working on.

Since winning a scholarship at the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music and gaining a BA in Music Performance I have had a keen interest in voice science.

I learnt from my time there that you don't have to settle for the voice you've been 'given' and that  a good strong vocal technique will allow you to acheive so much more.

Let me explain; for many years I was only capable of singing certain kinds of music and was limited with a small, low and breathy range. Through the application of various pedagogies my voice grew from week to week and I am now able to belt out Soul and Motown with the best of them! This ability came through consistent and regular practise and proves to me first hand that these techniques DO WORK! This experience has turned me into a real vocal geek and I continue to study vocal research and new findings within the industry as well as attending courses and seminars whenever I get the chance.

I’ve worked in many different bands over the past 10 years, exploring a range of musical genres including Jazz, Soul, Pop, Rock & even the odd bit of Metal! I believe that having an understanding of all of these vocal genres will help your voice to grow and develop it’s own unique style.

Having spent the last few years teaching and running workshops for various choirs and theatre schools alongside my one to one coaching I have decided the time is right for me to open my own school.
